I am called Alya Gigla Sylla founding director of the ballet association Saamato of Guinea. My history. I was born in 1960 in the state of Dubreka in a small village called Kobiyan. I begin my training in traditional Guinean ballet dances in 1970 in a dramatic art company in the village of my birth in dubreka. I then danced in, the neighborhood G'bessia Centers, 9th Arondissement.
I began the Ballet Saamato because I have a love and duty to my culture, and the preservation of the true image of a Guinean. I formed Saamato so the children would be ahderents of the traditional culture of Guinea and Africa. This was for the good of their individual futures. I created Saamato in 1990 to the neighborhood of gbessia center. We recruite children ages 8 to 14 years-old, my first students are now the teachers and excellent human beings. Ballet Saamato does not discriminate, we accept members of every race and creed and are happy to share our knowledge and culture.
